Tagging Alhena Orders

Tag the Shopify orders Alhena influenced, so you can filter, export and report on them right inside your Shopify admin.

Alhena already tracks the revenue it influences in Revenue Impact. Order tagging takes the same information and puts it where your team already works: when a shopper chats with Alhena and then buys, Alhena adds an alhena_interacted tag to that order in your Shopify admin.

From there it behaves like any other Shopify tag — filter your Orders list by it, include it in exports, or use it in the reports and tools you already run on Shopify data.

Turning it on

  1. In Alhena, go to Settings → Integrations → Shopify.

  2. Find Tag Orders in Shopify and switch it on.

  3. The first time, Alhena asks for one extra Shopify permission — permission to update your orders, which is what adding a tag requires. Click Continue to Shopify, approve it, and you'll be brought straight back.

  4. The toggle turns on and tagging starts.

The Tag Orders in Shopify setting, switched on.

Alhena doesn't ask for this permission when you install the app — only when you switch this feature on. If you cancel or decline the Shopify screen, tagging stays off and Alhena tells you so; just switch the toggle on again to retry.

Which orders get tagged

An order is tagged when the shopper interacted with Alhena before buying — the same rule that decides what counts as Alhena-influenced revenue in your analytics, so the tagged orders and your Revenue Impact numbers tell the same story.

In practice that means:

  • The shopper had a conversation with Alhena — the chat widget, an AI nudge, Product FAQs, or an embeddable agent — and Alhena was able to answer.

  • That conversation was within the last 7 days of the purchase. A conversation older than that isn't treated as influencing the order.

  • Where a shopper used more than one surface, the order is attributed to whichever conversation started first.

The tag is added once the order is paid, so it typically appears within a minute or two of the order coming in — not at the moment the shopper adds to cart.

Orders where no Alhena conversation is found are left alone.

Working with the tag

In your Shopify admin, open Orders and use Search and filter → Tagged with to narrow the list to alhena_interacted. That gives you an Alhena-influenced view of orders you can sort, count and Export to CSV like any other filtered list — useful for reconciling Alhena's reported revenue against your own numbers, or for handing finance a list they can check.

Turning it off

Switch Tag Orders in Shopify off and Alhena stops tagging new orders straight away. Tags already added stay on their orders — Alhena never removes them, so your historical view stays intact. If you want them gone, remove them in Shopify.

Tagging is additive. Alhena only ever adds alhena_interacted, and never touches other tags on the order — your own tags, and tags from other apps, are left exactly as they are.

Troubleshooting

No orders are getting tagged. Check the toggle is still on in Settings → Integrations → Shopify — if the Shopify permission was never approved, the toggle won't have stayed on. Then check whether Alhena is recording influenced revenue at all in Revenue Impact: if nothing is being attributed there, nothing will be tagged either, and the place to start is your revenue tracking rather than this setting.

Older orders aren't tagged. Tagging applies to orders placed after you turn it on. There's no backfill of past orders.

An order I expected isn't tagged. The most common reasons are a conversation older than the 7-day window, or a conversation where Alhena couldn't answer the shopper's question. Both are excluded from attribution by design.
